Avianca chooses RTXs Collins Aerospace for wheel and brake solutions

  • Contract includes full lifecycle support of wheels and brakes

Avianca, a leading airline based in Colombia, selected Collins Aerospace, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business to provide wheels and brakes to its new fleet of 103 A320neo aircraft over the next 15 years.

Collins currently equips Avianca’s fleet of A320ceo and A320neo aircraft with wheels and brakes. Collins’ brakes feature DURACARB® carbon friction material, which offer a longer brake life compared to competitors, equating to reduced maintenance requirements, lower service interruptions, increased savings and operational efficiencies.

“Extending our services and support to Avianca’s newly expanded fleet is a true testament to our established support network and team of dedicated employees that stand behind our product through its full lifecycle,” said Matt Maurer, vice president and general manager of Landing Systems for Collins Aerospace.

Avianca operates in 130 destinations where their A320ceo and A320neo aircraft serve customers throughout North America, Central America and South America.
