Hanwha and Diehl Defence sign MoU

Diehl Defence, a leading system house for guided missiles and ground-based air defence systems, and Hanwha, a leading Korean corporation in the fields of design, development, manufacture and sale of defence systems and solutions, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), covering the potential cooperation in the field of ground-based air defence (GBAD).

Under the agreement, both companies will evaluate the potential to cooperate in the area of testing the integration capability of Hanwha’s SAM radar system in Diehl Defence’s GBAD systems. This venture combines complementary capabilities of both companies and is intended to open up new market opportunities by jointly offering solutions to potential customers including, but not limited to, Korea (Republic of Korea). Hanwha and Diehl Defence intend to establish a strategic partnership for mutual cooperation in the future.

Diehl Defence is successfully offering a family of GBAD systems, particularly IRIS-T SLS and IRIS-T SLM for short to medium ranges. Adding Hanwha’s radar system to the configuration options of its GBAD systems, Diehl Defence will be able to address an even wider scope of customer needs. So far, eleven countries have opted for the combat-proven IRIS-T SLM system.
