Peraton has secured a significant task order by the Defense Human Resources Activity (DHRA) to help the Defense Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO) lead critical training and research efforts that aim to prevent suicide and support recovery efforts within the Department of Defense (DoD). This work reflects Peraton’s deep and ongoing commitment to honoring those who serve, and have served, our country.
“With veterans representing nearly one in every four of our employees, servicemembers and their families are critical to our mission support,” Tom Afferton, president, Cyber Mission Sector, Peraton. “We are honored to be a strategic partner to the Suicide Response Teams (SRTs) by providing the tools to increase knowledge, skills, and ultimately helping reduce suicide risk in the future.”
As part of the task order, Peraton will create and roll out training programs for the DoD Postvention Response System, including SRTs and senior leaders. These trainings will better equip the teams to handle postvention – the organized response after a suicide happens – and support the people left behind. The training will also address how to discuss suicide in ways that reduce stigma and encourage people to seek help, including the powerful role that individuals with lived experience have in making a difference. The courses will be made available online and through the DoD Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) learning system, allowing personnel to access the training from anywhere.
