TCG ORUCREIS, modernized with HAVELSAN's ADVENT Combat Management System, Ushers in a New Era in the Defense of the Blue Homeland

  • Under the BARBAROS-Class Frigate Combat Management System Development Project, TCG ORUCREIS (F-245), whose acceptance activities have been successfully completed, has taken its place in the defense of the Blue Homeland as the most modern and powerful combat unit of the Turkish Naval Forces Command.
  • In this project, which involved writing over 6 million lines of source code, more than 30 subsystems were integrated into the ADVENT Combat Management System for the first time. Live-fire exercises achieved pinpoint accuracy against land, surface, and air targets.

TCG ORUÇREIS (F-245), a BARBAROS-class frigate modernized with the BARBAROS-Class Frigate Combat Management System (BSYS) developed under HAVELSAN’s ADVENT Combat Management System (CMS) Program—"Developed with the Navy, for the Navy"—is launching a new era in the Turkish Naval Forces as the most modern and powerful strike unit in the defense of the Blue Homeland.

Under the administration of the Turkish Naval Forces Command, the acceptance activities for the modernization of TCG ORUÇREIS (F-245) were successfully completed as part of the BARBAROS-Class Frigate Combat Management System Development Project.

More than 30 new and existing, national and foreign systems were integrated into the ship using the ADVENT CMS. Integrated systems include the Atmaca and Harpoon anti-ship cruise missiles, Mk41 VLS vertical launch missile system, ESSM air defense missiles, 127 mm naval gun, 25 mm stabilized naval gun, Phalanx CIWS automatic gun system, AKREP Fire Control Radar and transmitters, search radars, tactical data links, ship data distribution system, and a national Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system.

Thanks to HAVELSAN's efforts, network-centric capabilities developed with the ADVENT CMS—such as joint engagement, joint operations, and joint training—were transferred to TCG ORUÇREIS. The ship has gained enhanced situational awareness and combat management capabilities across air, surface, underwater, electronic, and asymmetric warfare domains.

Other capabilities introduced with the ADVENT CMS include fully integrated Tactical Data Links, a Rule-Based Decision Support System, training capabilities without interrupting operations or ship duties, navigation and operational support, and tactical control of helicopters and aircraft.

Using the latest hardware and software technologies, ADVENT CMS is built on a distributed architecture and offers redundancy, fault tolerance, scalability, modularity, and high availability—significantly enhancing the capabilities of BARBAROS-class frigates.

As part of the BARBAROS-Class Frigate Combat Management System Development Project, HAVELSAN wrote over 6 million lines of source code and integrated more than 700 applications.

HAVELSAN also provided a fully redundant network structure, 4K-resolution image processing, recording/playback and Radar/TV video digitization, ergonomic design of the Combat Operations Center and Tactical Operations Center, the establishment of the BARBAROS Combat Management System power infrastructure, and the renovation of the Combat Operations Center's cooling systems.

Initial Readiness Tests, System Integration Tests, Harbor Acceptance Test, and Sea Acceptance Test were successfully completed in 2024 in Gölcük, Yalova, Bandirma, and the Saros Gulf.

For the first time in the Turkish Navy’s history, more than 30 subsystems were integrated into a frigate using ADVENT CMS. The live-fire exercises resulted in pinpoint accuracy against land, surface, and air targets.

TCG ORUÇREIS (F-245), which participated in the 2025 Sea Wolf-I (January 2025) and Sea Wolf-II (May 2025) Exercises, now stands as the most modern and powerful strike unit of the Turkish Naval Forces Command, playing a pivotal role in the defense of the Blue Homeland.
