Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and Safran Power Units have renewed today their long-term cooperation agreement for Naval Strike Missile (NSM) propulsion, reinforcing a successful partnership. The agreement includes an order for hundreds TR40 turbojet engines.
For several years, Safran Power Units has been supplying Kongsberg with the TR-40 engine powering the Naval Strike Missile. The success of this program within the European Union and NATO has ushered both companies to deepen their relationship and increase coordination on production ramp up.

This order for several hundred engines secures Safran Power Units’ orderbook until the next decade. It provides the visibility and stability to invest and expand industrial capacities, and support sub-suppliers as they increase their own production rates.
The NSM is an anti-ship missile with superior operational performance and high survivability against all enemy defense systems. The missile was developed by Kongsberg and first deployed in 2012 by the Royal Norwegian Navy, on its frigates and coastal corvettes. It was then selected by several other countries: United States, Poland, Romania, Canada, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Spain, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Belgium and Latvia and Denmark.
