US Army Awards $214.8M in FMTV A2 Orders

Oshkosh Defense, LLC an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) company, recently received multiple orders for additional Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle A2 (FMTV A2) trucks and trailers by the U.S. Army Contacting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA). The orders, worth $214.8 million, reinforce Oshkosh’s pivotal role in supporting the U.S. Army’s modernization initiatives.

Filling an essential need for the airborne community, the recent awards include the first order for Low Velocity Air Drop (LVAD) vehicles. Designed for rapid deployment in contested and austere environments, the FMTV A2 LVAD enhances strategic mobility and sustainment operations, as demonstrated in successful airdrop testing in 2024.

“The FMTV A2 LVAD reinforces the U.S. Army’s commitment to equipping Soldiers with the capability they need, when and where they need it most,” said Pat Williams, chief programs officer for Oshkosh Defense. “We’re proud to provide these critical vehicles to the airborne community and support the U.S. Army with this urgent operational need.”

With 19 variants tailored to meet the continuous transformation of the battlefield, the FMTV A2 delivers increased payload capacity and performance, improving mission effectiveness and operational efficiency. Its increased payload provides flexibility in transportation of equipment, supplies, and personnel, reducing logistical strain and streamlining operations. Additionally, its advanced suspension and stability control systems enhance mobility, allowing the vehicle to traverse challenging terrain with ease for the safe, rapid deployment of Soldiers and critical assets.

“With fielding already underway this year, these additional orders build on the momentum of the FMTV A2 program and we’re eager for Soldiers to benefit from its enhanced mobility, protection, and payload capacity,” continued Williams.

Oshkosh anticipates a three-year contract extension in Spring 2025 for order years 8-10. Since its initial contract award in 2018, Oshkosh Defense has received orders for over 3,000 FMTV A2s.
