Type 45 Destroyer Ballistic Protection

Integris has been awarded a vital contract to support the upkeep programme for the Royal Navy’s Type 45 Destroyer, with specific ballistic protection solutions to enhance operational resilience. Integris will not only supply new and replacement ballistic protection systems but will also bring its extensive expertise to ensure the highest levels of defence for one of the Royal Navy’s most advanced warships.

The Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyer
The Type 45 Destroyer, is a class of guided missile destroyers built for the Royal Navy and is one of the most sophisticated air-defence platforms globally. These warships are equipped with advanced radar systems and can track and destroy enemy targets at significant distances, playing a crucial role in protecting the Royal Navy’s fleet from airborne threats. The Type 45 is known for its powerful Sea Viper missile system, sophisticated radar, and high manoeuvrability, making it a cornerstone of the UK’s maritime defence strategy.

Through its work on this project, Integris will deliver a full-service solution that encompasses every aspect of ballistic protection—design, templating, and installation. Working in close collaboration with BAE Systems over nearly two years, Integris brings both technological innovation and practical know-how to ensure that the Type 45 receives the most effective ballistic defences possible. This end-to-end approach ensures the seamless integration of ballistic protection into the ship’s existing structure, providing a robust defence layer to support the crew in their high-stakes missions.
