Swiss Federal DoD to Receive Up to 1,050 New Handheld Chemical Detectors from Smiths Detection

Smiths Detection, a global leader in threat detection and security screening, today announces that they will manufacture and deliver up to 1,200 Lightweight Chemical Detectors (LCD) to the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport to replace the existing fleet of personal chemical detectors.

LCD is a rugged, reliable person worn Toxic Industrial Chemical (TIC) and chemical-warfare agent (CWA) identifier and detector. It is the most widely deployed personal chemical detector used by CBRNe and HAZMAT operators across the globe. The detector provides a lifesaving warning to personnel who deploy into high threat environments and warning of toxic threats to the civilian population.

Defence Market Director, Michael Lea, said, “We’re delighted to have been once again selected by the Swiss Federal Department of Defence to supply them with personal chemical detectors. We have a longstanding relationship with the armasuisse and look forward to continuing to help them meet their safety goals and our shared mission of making the world a safer place.”
