Honeywell Weather Radar Technology Certified in Brazil for Bombardier Learjet

Honeywell's IntuVue RDR-7000 Weather Radar System helps pilots detect and predict challenging weather conditions

Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today announced its IntuVue RDR-7000 Weather Radar System has been certified by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) for use on Bombardier Learjet 40/45 aircraft. The RDR-7000 technology was developed through a collaboration between Honeywell and Maga Aviation, an authorized Bombardier service center and a trusted provider of aviation solutions in Brazil.

“Gone are the days when a pilot’s only storm detection was their eyesight,” said José Vinicius Martins (JV), regional sales manager of South America, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. “With the RDR-7000, pilots can see weather that will affect their route, detect turbulence at 60 miles, and scan up to 60,000 feet. By providing a clear view of weather conditions, the system will help pilots chart the safest and most comfortable route through turbulent weather.”

The RDR-7000 is a fully automated weather radar system engineered to provide greater reliability, accuracy and durability than legacy magnetron-based radar systems. It offers both helicopter and business jet customers advanced hardware and software features to provide a clear view of weather conditions. The system can enhance pilots’ navigational capabilities, reduce maintenance and operational costs, improve passenger comfort and identify potential failures before they become critical.

"Our long-standing work with Honeywell enables us to bring transformative technologies like the RDR-7000 to the Brazilian market," said Edivaldo de Sousa Coelho (MacGyver), CEO of Maga Aviation. "As an authorized Bombardier service center, we’re uniquely positioned to integrate this advanced weather radar system, enhancing safety and operational efficiency for Learjet operators."

The RDR-7000 technology can be retrofitted on many existing aircraft to improve weather detection capabilities. It is compatible with aircraft from Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin and more. Last year, OMNI Air Taxi, the largest operator of Leonardo AW139 helicopters in South America, selected the technology to gradually upgrade its fleet of 31 AW139s.

The system is pending validation by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
