Saab Brings Third SR-3 into Operation at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Swedavia selected Saab to replace three aged Surface Movement Radars with the newest generation SR-3, benefitting from its easy installation and integration capabilities.

Saab’s Surface Movement Radar (SMR) team installed a new SR-3 this July at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, as part of a contract awarded by Swedavia in 2016 to install three SR-3 radars at the airport. In each of the three installations, the Saab team successfully removed the existing radar, installed the new SR-3 on the existing tower, and completed site acceptance testing for the SMR and integration with the existing Saab A-SMGCS (Advanced - Surface Movement Guidance & Control System). This was completed over a short span of eight days in each case.

The efficiency of Saab’s installation and integration teams, in conjunction with installation support from local contractor Eltel, enabled this project to be completed with minimal downtime.
