The United States is rebuilding its munitions production base to meet the demands of conventional deterrence and possible great power conflict. Modern great power conflict will be one of production, attrition, and regeneration, especially for weapons. And solid rocket motors (SRMs) are among the most critical and capacity-constrained sub-systems needed for weapons production, both for legacy systems and future modernization programs. The Department of War (DoW) and Congress have emphasized the need to diversify the industrial base through policy direction and by directing significant funding toward expanding the munitions and rocket motors supplier base. To meet this need, on 02 October 2025 Anduril was awarded $43.7 million in additional Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III funding to expand domestic SRM production capacity. This comes less than one year after the DoW provided an initial $14.3 million investment to Anduril in December 2024. This buttresses Anduril’s $75 million investment to produce large volumes of SRMs at reduced costs; this public-private partnership reflects a shared commitment to addressing America’s urgent need for scalable, reliable rocket motor production.
This DPA Title III investment is a deliberate effort to close current gaps in reliable and timely SRM supply by enabling Anduril to scale effectively. The funding will increase the efficiency and resiliency of Anduril’s Mississippi factory through expanded test fire infrastructure for more complex motors, increased storage capacity, and by acquiring common production tooling in manufacturing-level quantities. In August 2025, Anduril opened its full-rate production facility in Mississippi, making Anduril the third supplier of SRMs in the US. Since receiving the initial DPA Title funding in December 2024, Anduril secured a full-rate production contract with a European ally for an operational tactical air defense system and was selected by Saab to supply the rocket motor for the Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb.
Anduril is meeting the challenge to rebuild the arsenal of democracy. This additional DPA Title III funding is further demonstration that Anduril is deploying capital and scaling production capacity in the areas of our highest national needs. As Secretary Hegseth made plain late last year in his “Arsenal of Freedom” speech: “The Department of War will only do business with industry partners that share our priority of speed and volume above all else, who are willing to surge American manufacturing at the speed of ingenuity to deliver rapidly and reliably for our warfighters.“ Anduril’s emergence as the third supplier of SRMs is in direct pursuit of these aims from American national security leadership.
