Patria has signed a contract with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (“Kongsberg”) for the delivery of PROTECTOR RS4 remote weapon stations for more than 300 Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles within the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme.
The contract, valued at approximately 140 million euros, includes an additional order for Sweden as well as RS4 subsystems for several CAVS vehicle variants ordered by Germany in December 2025. The assembly of these vehicles will be carried out in cooperation with Patria’s industrial partners in Germany, with deliveries scheduled for 2026–2030.
“We are very proud to support CAVS member nations with a common RS4 equipped Patria 6x6 configuration. The CAVS defence collaboration framework lets nations move fast, buy smart and sustain locally ? therefore the defence forces receive always a consistent, interoperable capability with the backing of a robust European supply chain,” says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.

We are pleased to extend our cooperation with the Swedish and German armed forces. Combined with growing interest from participating and prospective CAVS nations, this agreement confirms Kongsberg’s standing as a leading supplier of remote weapon stations,” says Kjetil Reiten Myhra, Executive Vice President at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
The Finnish-led CAVS programme currently consists of seven member nations: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, The United Kingdom and Norway with the vehicles being also operational in Ukraine. Within the CAVS programme, the 6x6 armoured vehicle system development is led by Patria, that has more than four decades of experience in developing and delivering state-of-the-art protected troop transportation and system integration. Vast majority of supply of the vehicles is conducted by utilising the member nations’ local industry capabilities and every new nation is inherently reinforcing the security of supply for the whole collaboration system.
Patria has already contracted nearly 2000 Patria 6x6 vehicles including options and has delivered more than 300 vehicles. The programme is open to other countries with similar equipment requirements, by mutual consent of the participating countries.
