NHIndustries is pleased to announce that the Spanish Directorate General of Armament and Material (DGAM) signs a contract trough Airbus Helicopters, and consequently NHI, for the acquisition of 31 NH90 helicopters. The helicopters are in the TTH configuration and will be produced in GSPA variant for the Spanish Army and Spanish Air Force, and MSPT variant for the Navy.
Spain has already contracted 45 helicopters from previous contracts and with this agreement its fleet will grow up to 76 helicopters, making it one of the largest NH90 nations and a key pillar of the program. Spain is also the only NH90 nation having introduced the NH90 in the Navy, Army and Air Force.
Axel Aloccio, NHI President, mentioned “This repeat order is a huge vote of confidence from Spain in the NH90 to meet the needs and requirements of the 3 Spanish Armed Forces. NHI is proud to serve Spain and is truly honored by this renewed mark of trust”

The latest GSPA configuration represents the most advanced evolution of the NH90 platform for terrestrial missions, tailored specifically to meet DGAM’s operational requirements for special operations.
It will feature a latest-generation front fuselage architecture equipped with advanced systems, including a Mission Flight Aid (MFA) composed of a Distributed Aperture System (DAS), jointly developed by France and Spain for the French Special Forces. DAS system is based on fixed infrared cameras and an Electro-Optical System (EOS) that will display 3D vision in a new generation Helmet Mounted Sight Digital Display (HMSDD), providing an unprecedented level of pilot support in low visibility, greatly enhancing the helicopter’s capability in degraded environmental conditions and flight path recognition. DAS and EOS systems are Safran Electronics & Defense products and HMSDD is from Thales Avionics.
The programme will also draw on the combined expertise of NHI partner companies and key Spanish industrial partners, including Indra, Tecnobit, Industria de Turbopropulsores, Aernnova (amongst others) ensuring strong national participation in development, integration and localized production activities.
The NH90 family includes two primary variants: the NH90 NFH (NATO Frigate Helicopter) for maritime missions and the NH90 TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter) for land-based operations. Worldwide, more than 530 NH90 helicopters have been delivered, operating in diverse environments over land and sea and surpassing 500,000 flight hours globally.
NHIndustries—the largest rotorcraft joint venture in the world—is responsible for the design, production, and support of the NH90, one of the most advanced military helicopters of its generation. The company brings together the strengths of Europe’s leading aerospace and defense players: Airbus Helicopters (62.5%), Leonardo (32%), and GKN Fokker (5.5%), each contributing deep expertise and decades of experience.
As Europe’s largest military helicopter program, the NH90 stands out for its full-composite airframe, spacious cabin, excellent power-to-weight ratio, and extensive mission-equipment options.
Equipped with a quadruplex fly-by-wire flight control system, the NH90 reduces pilot workload and enhances handling performance. It is available in two primary variants: the NH90 NFH (NATO Frigate Helicopter) for naval missions and the NH90 TTH for land-based operations.
Worldwide, more than 530 NH90 helicopters of both variants have been delivered, operating in diverse climates and environments over land and sea, and collectively surpassing 500,000 flight hours.
