KNDS Modernizes BOXER Ambulance Vehicles for the Bundeswehr

KNDS Deutschland (KNDS) will modernize all BOXER 8x8 wheeled vehicles in the variant sgSanKfz (heavily protected Ambulance vehicle). A corresponding contract has been signed between ARTEC (OEM of the BOXER system and a joint venture between KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall Landsysteme) and KNDS. A total of 72 BOXER Ambulance will be upgraded. This includes new, state-of-the-art medical equipment for the ambulances. In addition, the BOXER sgSanKfz will be equipped with the latest generation of digital radios as part of the German Army's D-LBO (Digitalization of Land-Based Operations) project.

The contract is valued at approximately €117 million. The first upgraded systems are expected to be delivered starting in 2027.

The variable ambulance mission module can accommodate a variable number of casualties, depending on the type of injury. Intensive care is also possible.
