PGZ Selected a Partner for the Production of Large-Caliber Ammunition

Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa has completed the selection process for a supplier of 155mm large-caliber ammunition production technology. After analyzing the offers and conducting direct negotiations, the offer submitted by the British company BAE Systems was selected.

This choice is consistent with the efforts of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa to increase the production capacity of large-caliber ammunition within the PGZ ammunition domain, comprised of the following companies: MESKO S.A., Dezamet S.A., Belma S.A., Nitro-Chem S.A., and Gamrat sp. z o.o.

The final decision on the partner selection was preceded by a multi-stage bid review process and discussions with contractors. Several aspects were considered during the analysis, including three main selection criteria: production independence, technological solutions, and price. The offer submitted by BAE Systems proved to be the most advantageous in terms of the selection criteria, national security, and the future development of PGZ’s ammunition domain. BAE Systems’ offer fully met the requirements established during the partner selection process. It is an open-ended contract with a 40-year notice period.

The chosen offer is an innovative solution enabling the introduction of a new product to PGZ’s portfolio and the expansion of production capabilities at particular ammunition plants. Collaboration with BAE Systems will enable the PGZ Group to continue its development towards becoming a key ammunition manufacturer in Europe and could be the beginning of a strategic, long-term collaboration with Europe’s largest defence company in various areas.

“When evaluating the individual offers, we placed particular emphasis on achieving production sovereignty and the development potential of PGZ’s ammunition domain. Considering that this is an open-ended contract, under which we are acquiring completely new competencies for many years, we analyzed a very broad range of criteria. I am confident that we made the right choice, beneficial both for the future of our group and for our country’s international relations” says Adam Leszkiewicz, President of the Management Board of PGZ SA.

The selection of the offer submitted by BAE Systems is a significant step in strengthening bilateral Polish-British relations in terms of ??security. In selecting the contractor, not only the experience of the bidder and the quality of the proposed solutions were crucial, but also the context of international cooperation regarding security and defence. It is worth mentioning that on December 21, 2017, Poland and the United Kingdom signed the Treaty on Defence and Security Cooperation. Projects in the maritime, air and missile defence domains have also been successfully implemented throughout the years.
