NOAA Declares GOES-19 Weather Satellite Fully Operational with L3Harris Advanced Baseline Imager Technology Onboard

L3Harris Technologies’ (NYSE: LHX) Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) is delivering critical data after NOAA declared the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-19 (GOES-19)  fully operational as GOES East . The high-resolution ABI is the primary instrument aboard the satellite.

Providing data on-orbit from GOES-19 since July 2024, L3Harris’  ABI technology rapidly and accurately detects and tracks hazards including severe thunderstorms, wildfires and hurricanes. The ABI monitors weather conditions and collects data that will deliver accurate, real-time information to meteorologists.

“The official transition to operations as GOES East fulfills NOAA’s ongoing objective to provide robust, world-leading severe storm detection for the Western Hemisphere,” said Ed Zoiss, President, Space and Airborne Systems, L3Harris. “Using our world-class imaging capabilities at the heart of the satellite, NOAA will extend today’s fastest and most reliable forecasts, which are keeping our communities safer than any time in history.”
