QinetiQ Wins TacSys Resource Partner (TRP) Contract with Defence Digital

QinetiQ has won a three-year contract to provide Defence Digital with engineering and programme expertise to help deliver the next generation of tactical military communications. This contract is part of the Land Environment Tactical Communications and Information Systems (LETacCIS) Programme, which will enable the British Army to make better informed and more timely decisions when operating on the front line.

The three-year contract has a potential value of £150 million with an initial contract award of £39m and is with the UK’s Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Defence Digital organisation, which is responsible for ensuring the UK military has access to effective digital products and services. The contract also includes options for extensions for up to two further years.

Approximately 100 experts from the QinetiQ-led Team Advance* will join the MoD-led Delivery Team and will be providing expertise in areas including programme and project management, cost engineering, approvals, network, security and safety engineering.

While this contract aims to deliver a new communications solution for use on the front line, it follows QinetiQ’s longstanding collaboration through its predecessor contract, BATCIS Private Sector Support (BPSS), where QinetiQ – alongside partners BMT, Roke and Eviden (then ATOS) – provided a range of services including programme management, engineering, trials and training.

James Willis, Chief Executive UK Intelligence, QinetiQ, said: "In this digital era, reliable and robust communications are the bedrock of an operationally effective fighting force. As a trusted partner to the UK military we are delighted to continue to support development and delivery of this vitally important programme that enables our Armed Forces to defend our nation, safely and securely."

Brigadier Jez Sharpe, Defence Digital, said: "We are delighted to be able award this contract to Team Advance who, we are confident, will deliver the expertise we need to take land tactical communications to the next stage. We look forward to an enduring partnership as we bring capability to the hands of our front line troops."
