L3Harris to Provide Propulsion for Hypersonic Defense System

L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) will provide two key propulsion systems to Northrop Grumman to support the Missile Defense Agency’s Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI) program, a defensive weapon intended to defeat hypersonic glide vehicles.

“Our propulsion technology has been a cornerstone of national defense for decades, and through this program, we look forward to continuing to develop modern, cost-effective propulsion solutions to support our warfighters,” said Ross Niebergall, President, Aerojet Rocketdyne, L3Harris. “Our innovative and reliable solid rocket motor technology will help the GPI program strengthen the deterrence posture of the U.S., allies and partners by adding another layer to our regional defensive architecture.”

L3Harris will provide a large solid rocket motor for first stage boost propulsion and an advanced version to power the third stage of the interceptor missile.
