Find Out More About the Workshops Taking Place Around the Defence Exports Conference This September

SAE Media Group reports: Defence Exports Conference will be hosting four different Workshops, around the defence trade compliance, which will convene in September 2022.

SAE Media Group is delighted to announce its 16th Annual Defence Exports Conference, which will be taking place on 13th – 14th September 2022, in London, UK.

A truly global event, delegates will hear from government speakers and senior international trade compliance professionals from around the world on regulation controls including ITAR, EAR, ECR, Dual-Use and the Wassenaar Arrangement.

Workshop A: Introduction to UK Strategic Export Controls on 12th September in London, UK.
An introduction to UK ‘Strategic’ exports with a brief history and foundation in the export and trade of controlled Military and Dual Use items from the UK.
It includes Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Military End Use considerations for otherwise non-controlled goods, challenges and solutions regarding the exports of software and technology, and how to efficiently apply or use a UK Licence.

About the Host:
Adrian Bond is the Business Awareness Training Manager for the UK’s Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU) and a Chartered Electronics Engineer. Adrian is responsible for providing ECJU training to new and experienced exporters across the UK.

Workshop B: U.S. Export and Re-Export Controls on 12th September in London, UK.
This workshop will explore what a European company need to know to stay on top of U.S. export, reexport, and retransfer controls.  There will also be coverage of company’s obligations under U.S. DoD’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Program.  Particular emphasis will be on reviewing the “chain of custody” information on subcontractors/sublicensees, downstream customers and end-users, freight forwarders/customs brokers/warehouses, and sales reps/brokers your U.S. suppliers need from you to prepare bullet-proof ITAR and EAR applications.

About the Workshop Leaders:
Gary Stanley is the President of Global Legal Services, PC, a Washington, DC-based law firm focusing on trade compliance issues.  Mr. Stanley represents, among others, numerous U.S., Canadian, and European companies on defense export control issues.
Ed Peartree is the Group Deputy Head of Export Controls, Licensing and Policy at BAE Systems plc.  

Workshop C: Challenges of Controlling Technology/Technical Data in A Cyber World on 15th September 2022 in London, UK.
This workshop will provide attendees a better understanding of cybersecurity regulatory requirements such as CMMC, DFARS, and UK Cyber Essentials, and go over practical strategies for managing compliance and controlled defense data.

About the Workshop Leaders:
Rick Badgley is a cybersecurity leader who has had a passion for technology his entire life. He spent 6 years enlisted in U.S. Air Force followed by a successful career in the National Security Agency as a global network analyst, national cryptologic school instructor, and a division Chief.
Francisco (Paco) Quiroz brings a diverse background in the areas of technology, business, and law. He received his MBA and Law degrees from Marquette University before working for Kimberly-Clark and Tata Consultancy Services.

Workshop D: Navigating Eu Export Controls on 15th September 2022 in London, UK.
This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview and update of the export controls and compliance requirements for all the major economies of Europe. The workshop will highlight the scope of each country’s export control system, breakdown national control lists, and provide practical tips on export license determination and application.

About the Workshop Leader:
Rosa Rosanelli is currently Vice President, Head of Compliance for Patria Group, an international provider of defense, security and aviation life cycle support services, pilot training and technology solutions.
