Engility Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: EGL ), today announced it has been awarded a contract with the potential to be worth $12.5 million over five years to provide supply chain and logistics management--specifically reclamation, demilitarization and disposal of stricken aircraft--to the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Weapon Systems Support (WSS) Stricken Aircraft Reclamation and Disposal Program (SARDIP).
Since 1999, the Engility SARDIP team has performed reclamation and aircraft disposal efforts for NAVSUP WSS. NAVSUP WSS SARDIP recovers items that are in short supply or have long procurement lead times, which provides a low-cost alternative for new procurement and for resolving system shortfalls.
"Reclaiming and reusing aircraft and helicopter items has significantly benefitted the Navy in terms of cost-avoidance and in making high-demand items available. It is also a critical step in the life-cycle of a program — systems engineering of a weapon system, its retirement and its replacement," said Engility's President and CEO Tony Smeraglinolo . "We are proud to be the Navy's partner on this program and have our experienced, dedicated team of technicians and engineers deconstruct and reconstruct these aircraft throughout the United States ."
This award, which represents follow-on work to a current contract, is a five-year, firm-fixed-price multi-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. The team is based at facilities in NAS Oceana, Va. , NAS Norfolk, Va. and NAS Jacksonville, Fl.
