Truenoord Delivers Two ATR72-600s to TACV Cabo Verde Airlines

"We are pleased to welcome Cabo Verde Airlines as a new lessee customer and support the critical intra-island connectivity of the Cape Verde archipelago" Maarten Grift, Sales Director, TrueNoord

TrueNoord, the specialist regional aircraft leasing company, has delivered two ATR72-600’s to TACV Cabo Verde Airlines. Provided on long-term operating leases, the turboprops will be based at Praia International Airport on Santiago Island and mark the first ATR72-600s to join the operator’s fleet. MSN 1512 arrived in Praia earlier this month, followed by the second aircraft, MSN 1514, later in September.

Maarten Grift, TrueNoord Sales Director, explains the unique circumstances surrounding the transaction. “Intra-island connectivity is a geographic necessity and vital for the economy of the country, as it drives tourism, facilitates international trade and reconnection of the diaspora. The delivery of these ATRs will significantly increase CVAs ability to meet the country’s mobility needs.”

“The lease of these aircraft to TACV Cabo Verde Airlines expands our footprint in Africa considerably and adds to our growing list of regional airline customers,“ continues Grift. “It was a pleasure working with their professional team and we look forward to continuing our long-term partnership as we work to achieve our shared goal of improving regional transport for communities in remote locations. We also extend our thanks to IndiGo for their cooperation during the streamlined redelivery of these aircraft.”

Pedro Barros, Chairman & CEO of TACV Cabo Verde Airlines, adds, “We are pleased to partner with TrueNoord, a lessor with deep expertise in supporting regional airlines and a strong commitment to long-term collaboration. The lease of these two aircraft marks an important step for TACV Cabo Verde Airlines, better positioning us to enhance connectivity across our island nation. This partnership reflects our shared vision for sustainable regional aviation and passenger-focused service.”

“Aviation in Africa is experiencing above average growth in passenger numbers, so despite market challenges, African airlines operating domestic and regional routes are actively looking to expand their fleets,” concludes Grift. “We are seeing a strong increase in demand for all regional aircraft types, but in particular turboprop aircraft which are well suited to providing efficient and frequent connectivity across Africa’s diverse and often challenging terrain.”
