Maeve Aerospace Receives Reservations for 35 Electric Aircrafts from Air Napier

Dutch aircraft manufacturer Maeve Aerospace has partnered with one of New Zealand’s largest regional charter airlines Air Napier in a signed purchasing agreement for a total of 35 fully electric aircrafts.

The partnership was officially announced during Maeve's annual public unveiling of the new design for their all-electric aircraft Maeve 01. Maeve’s annual unveil event took place last April 13th in the old Fokker aircraft terminal in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Air Napier’s CEO Shah Aslam: “As we see, right now in New Zealand there are a lot of opportunities in aviation, because most regions have limited or no air connectivity at all. This is where Maeve potentially comes into play, as Maeve 01 seems to be the perfect combination of range and capacity. When movement stops, the world simply stops. We saw this during COVID, where countries had their borders closed, movement was limited, caused a lot of anxiety and reduced productivity. So, movement is the essential part of global economy. If you look at aviation or transport in general, most of it is based on fossil fuels, and hence large contribution to carbon (emissions).”

Maeve’s co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer Joost Dieben, on the new partnership with Air Napier: "With this reservation and strong partnership with one of New Zealand’s largest charter airline Air Napier, we’ve truly set the first step of bringing zero-emission air travel to New Zealand. Air Napier has positioned itself in the unique position as first airline to offer passengers a sustainable alternative before the end of this decade. We are proud and congratulate Air Napier being the first to take an advantage in sustainable aviation."
