Hawaiian Airlines Becomes More Intelligent with Extended Deployment of IntelisightTM ADM

UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (UTX), has been selected by Hawaiian Airlines to extend deployment of its Aircraft Data Management (ADM) platform, InteliSight™to the airline’s new fleet of 18 Airbus A321NEO aircraft. InteliSight integrates hardware and software applications to enable real-time decision making for operators to optimize aircraft performance, helping to reduce fuel burn and flight time, thereby saving costs. This implementation continues Hawaiian’s effort to become the most intelligent airline, as it has already equipped its fleet of Boeing 717, 767 and Airbus A330 aircraft with the UTC Aerospace Systems aircraft interface device (AID).

By delivering real-time actionable data on evolving weather conditions, flight crews can develop smarter – more intelligent – flight plans that avoid inclement weather which facilitates a comfortable flight experience for passengers, and keeps flights on schedule which saves the airline money through fuel costs. Additionally, the A321NEO fleet will now be equipped with connectivity for the WiFi MedLink handset. Using the Cobham AVIATOR 300D satellite communications system in conjunction with the UTC Aerospace Systems AID, the airline will be able to securely transmit critical medical communications to and from the aircraft in the event of an inflight emergency.

“We are thrilled that Hawaiian has extended their deployment of this intelligent aircraft system, as it was designed with the airline in mind – highly capable, reliable, lightweight and flexible,” says Mark Skarohlid, Vice President of Business Development for UTC Aerospace Systems. “We are committed to continually produce and advance technological capabilities and applications to enable a more intelligent aircraft.”

The implementation at Hawaiian Airlines, a known industry-leader in technology adoption, uses low-risk, advanced solutions to evolve its services and operations. As a proven stable and secured platform, InteliSight is emerging as the preferred choice for operators around the world to rapidly upgrade their fleets with intelligence and real-time connectivity.

“We continually strive to be one of the most progressive U.S. commercial airlines to deliver an exceptional experience to our passengers,” says Ken Rewick, vice president of flight operations for Hawaiian Airlines. “The InteliSight platform has demonstrated real benefits for our flight operations and we look forward to expanding these capabilities to our growing fleet of A321neo aircraft.”
