Lufthansa Technik and Royal Jordanian partner on aircraft component support

Lufthansa Technik and Royal Jordanian Airlines have deepened their already close cooperation in the field of aircraft parts supply. The MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) company will provide the Amman-based flag carrier of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with its Total Component Support (TCS) for the entire Airbus A320neo family fleet the airline is currently building up. The respective contract was ceremonially signed at the Dubai Airshow today.

TCS contracts signed with Lufthansa Technik in 2017 and 2021 already provided Royal Jordanian’s Airbus A320ceo (Classic Engine Option) fleet access to the MRO company’s global spare parts pool, helping the airline to increase the availability of aircraft components and to leverage significant cost-benefits. Through the new contract, these services are extended to also include a total of 20 A320neos and A321neos (New Engine Option) that are set to gradually replace their predecessor models in Royal Jordanian’s operations.

The new contract started with the delivery of the first A320neo to the airline and covers a respective twelve-year period beginning with the phase-in of each individual aircraft. It includes component MRO and pooling services, as well as a 24/7 AOG (Aircraft On Ground) support in the event an aircraft is grounded due to a component defect. For even quicker access to a certain range of A320neo components, Lufthansa Technik will moreover set up a so-called home base pool at Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport, the center of Royal Jordanian’s operations.
