Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) announced today that during its third quarter of fiscal year 2020, its Mission-Critical Technologies group’s Space & Component Technology division, which is part of Comtech’s Government Solutions segment, was awarded a contract valued at $12.6 million from a major U.S. prime contractor in support of NASA’s Orion Production and Operations Contract (“OPOC”) or commonly known as the Artemis project. The Artemis project is intended to help NASA carry the first woman and next man to the moon by 2024.
Fred Kornberg, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., said, “We are delighted to be part of this important program and this is a great day for Comtech. This award demonstrates that our U.S. prime contractor recognizes the unique value of Comtech’s space level electronic parts supply chain management and engineering services expertise for this critical manned space program.”
The contract consolidates requirements for high reliability electrical, electronic and electromechanical (“EEE”) parts and engineering services for multiple customer sites in support of three spacecraft missions: Artemis III, IV and V. The contract was initially funded at $6.3 million and the final contract value is subject to final negotiation.
