Dignitaries representing Iqarus and KFOR today attended the opening ceremony of a fully operational hospital in Kosovo.

The role two basic (R2B) medical health facility was built and commissioned by Iqarus, a leading provider of intelligent and integrated healthcare solutions in complex and demanding environments. The hospital became fully operational on 01 January 2018 and will provide surgical capabilities and associated medical support services to NATO staff on deployed operations.

Iqarus was awarded the contract by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) and will support KFOR missions on the ground in Pristina. Iqarus was responsible for the entire hospital build, equipping the facility and recruiting a multi-disciplinary medical team. Key staff, among others, include trauma and general surgeons from Italy and Bulgaria, an anaesthetist from Greece, ER and ICU nurses from France, Spain, Portugal and Sweden. “Iqarus is proud to support the NATO-led KFOR mission in Kosovo by providing NATO’s first ever privately-contracted R2B facility”, commented Tim Mitchell, Iqarus Chief Executive Officer. “Given the size and scale of the health facility, it is incredible to think that the entire project was delivered in just two months, and to an exceptionally high standard”, he added.

The hospital’s healthcare facilities include an emergency room, operating theatre, intensive care units, high-dependency units, wards, ambulance services and associated medical support services. Healthy staff are critical to ensuring the success of local missions; Iqarus will continue to operate the medical treatment facility for the next three years, providing continued facility management, training support and overall clinical governance.

Today, approximately 4,000 troops from KFOR, provided by 28 countries, continue to work towards maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all citizens and communities in Kosovo. According to KFOR, this new facility is part of NATO’s ongoing commitment to provide essential support services to staff on deployed operations.
