Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, and management services to the federal government, announced today that the Company has been awarded a hazardous materials (HAZMAT) inventory management contract with the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Logistics Center San Diego. Under this contract Serco will provide expert personnel for the procurement of HAZMAT materials in order to buy, track, stock and provide items on request across the Navy’s Southwest Region. The five-year contract has a one-year base period and four one-year option periods, valued at $47 million, if all options are exercised.
Serco will work with the U.S. Navy to standardize HAZMAT management by integrating the Company’s proven forecasting management model. Serco will also seek to identify viable substitutes to HAZMAT materials and ensure stock levels meet the U.S. Navy’s needs along with the required Military Specification, Federal Specification and Commercial Item Description requirements.
