Savox IMP C4I-enabling Intercom in Multi-Million-EUR Vehicle Programme for ME User

Leading provider of C4I and communications solutions for defence, security and professional public safety users, Savox Communications, ( DSEI 2015 Stand N5-442 ), has signed a contract, valued in excess of €10million, with an undisclosed Middle Eastern customer. This is for the supply of its IMP C4I-enabling intercom communication system for installation aboard a wide range of land and sea platforms.

The contract, with future options, will see the Savox IMP system retrofitted onto a large number of armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs), light vehicles and naval vessels as part of a major retrofit & upgrade programme. This deal also marks the first customer for the IMP system in the Middle East & African region.

IMP is a next-generation, lightweight, digital communications C4I-capable platform intercom system. It supports radio and data transmissions in one solution for use aboard the full range of land-based platforms (from Light Tactical Vehicles to Main Battle Tanks), as well as a variety of maritime vessels.   Each crew member on an IMP-installed platform has their own wearable Personal Communications Unit, providing full connectivity into the onboard IMP network and instant access to communications, both inside the vehicle, as well as outside into the wider tactical radio network.

Savox COO and SVP Defence Systems, Jerry Kettunen, said, “Though we are unable to disclose the name of the customer at this time, we can state that they were extremely impressed with the Savox IMP system during evaluation and trials, which have taken place over the course of the past two years. The customer’s troops put IMP through its paces on land and at sea under very demanding conditions aboard a wide range of vehicles and boats. Throughout the trials, IMP proved to be totally reliable and easy to use. “

IMP will now replace outdated installations on several platforms. It also meets the need for a new

C4I-capable intercom system, versatile enough for use in a wide range of demanding scenarios.

Kettunen added, “We are delighted that our IMP software-defined intercom system has been chosen by this important Middle Eastern customer. Savox has been able to react and respond quickly to a rapidly unfolding requirement without the constraints sometimes experienced when customers have to deal with much larger vendors. This is our first major contract with this nation in the ME and we are looking forward to strengthening our relationship with them as we move forward.”

Deliveries of the Savox IMP system under the terms of this deal will begin in Q4 2015.
