An inauguration ceremony marking the office opening was hosted by Stéphane Larue, Canadian Consul General in São Paulo. Representing Bombardier Commercial Aircraft were Ray Jones, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Asset Management;  Alex Glock, Regional Vice President, Sales, Latin America, Daniel Fischer, Regional Sales Director and Pablo Bottacchi, Regional Sales Director. The ceremony was also attended by Bombardier customers and suppliers, government officials and media representatives.

“Bombardier’s sales strategy over the last two years has centered around expanding its global reach in the world’s growing markets; in fact, we have more than doubled such locations over the past four years and as such, have seen an increase in sales opportunities and customers as a result,” said Mr. Jones. “Latin America is key to this ongoing strategy and our São Paulo-based sales and marketing team will be even better equipped to anticipate and respond to the needs of their stakeholders in a very competitive marketplace.”

“Latin America’s need for domestic transportation is central to its economic growth plans and aviation is expected to play a central role as the region’s economic growth is expected to be among the highest, at an average of 3.7 per cent over the next 20 years,” said Mr. Glock. “Bombardier’s Commercial Aircraft Market Forecast for the period 2014-2033 predicts deliveries to the region of 1,100 aircraft ranging from 20 to 149 seats, or 8.4 per cent of global demand. We expect that 510 of those aircraft will be in the 20- to 99- seat market, and 590 will be in the 100- to 149-seat market.

“We are well prepared to serve these market segments with the Q400 NextGen turboprop and CRJ regional jets in the smaller category, and our exciting new CSeries mainline jet in the larger category,” added Mr. Glock. “These modern, economical and highly efficient aircraft will be required as many governments in the region intend to invest in new regional aviation infrastructure -- Brazil alone plans to build or improve about 270 regional airports.”

Latin America is sustaining economic growth that is projected to continue with the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil. This major international sporting event is spurring regional growth, including investment in secondary aviation infrastructure, and the development of low fare carriers, providing wider access to affordable air travel.

The new office in São Paulo is located in the neighbourhood of Alto de Pinheiros.
