DRS Technologies Teams with Israel's Plasan Sasa to Offer Vehicle Armor Solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense
(PARSIPPANY, N.J., Feb. 17, 2006) -- DRS Technologies, Inc. announced today that its DRS Systems & Electronics unit and Israeli armor material manufacturer Plasan Sasa Ltd. have signed a teaming agreement to market tactical vehicle armor solutions to the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and tactical vehicle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The agreement supports the companies' combined efforts to respond to DOD armor requirements in connection with the recapitalization of military tactical vehicles for the U.S. Army's Long Term Armor Strategy (LTAS).Under the teaming agreement, the DRS Systems & Electronics unit is serving as the prime contractor and will provide program management oversight, as well as contribute build-to-print experience in armor solutions, cutting/welding capability with armor steel, material procurement and kitting, logistics support, and vehicle modification and retrofit. Plasan Sasa will contribute fielded armor material technology, in addition to vehicle armor design solution capability.
