L-3 Electrodynamics SRVIVR Selected for Euro Hawk UAV
Published on ASDNews: Jun 29, 2009
(Le Bourget, Paris, June, 2009) -- L-3 Electrodynamics (L-3 EDI), a division of L-3 Communications, announced today that it has supplied its SRVIVR Cockpit Voice Flight Data Recorder (CVFDR) to Northrop Grumman for integration on its Euro Hawk variant of the RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aircraft system. The Euro Hawk will serve as part of the German Air Force's high altitude long endurance (HALE) surveillance and reconnaissance system."Northrop's selection of SRVIVR for this important program demonstrates the value that reduced size and weight provides for unmanned aerial systems," said Donald Spetter, president of L-3 EDI. "In addition, SRVIVR can be configured for a wide range of commercial and military aircraft, whether manned or unmanned."
The SRVIVR family of small and lightweight CVFDRs was designed to meet or exceed the requirements of EUROCAE ED-112, which defines the minimum operational performance specifications for crash protected airborne recorder systems. In addition to its robust design, SRVIVR is the smallest and lightest crash recorder in use today weighing as little as 4.5 lbs.
