Company to Continue Providing Information Assurance (IA) Training Support to the Department of Defense (DoD)

(San Diego and McLean, Va., June 2, 2009) -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a prime task order by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) to provide information assurance (IA) training support to the Department of Defense (DoD). The task order has a one year base period of performance, four one year options and a total value of more than $21 million if all options are exercised. Information Technology (IT) Support will be performed primarily in Falls Church, Va., Columbia, Md., and Chambersburg, Pa. The task order was awarded under DISA's ENCORE II indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract. ENCORE II is a multiple award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract that provides IT support to Military Agencies, DoD and other Federal Agencies. SAIC is one of 26 awardees under ENCORE II.

To protect government information and information systems, the Federal Information Security Management Act, and the Office of Management and Budget require that all users of federal computer systems receive information systems security and cybersecurity awareness training. Under the task order, SAIC will develop and deliver IA education, training, and awareness (ETA) products to help DoD continue to meet all DoD and Federal cybersecurity requirements. Services will include instructional system and graphics design; multimedia programming; and development, integration, and maintenance of IA ETA products. SAIC will also provide technical support to DISA's public key infrastructure (PKI) Program, providing PKI education, training and certification for DoD civilian and military members, as well as providing DoD computer network defense operators with training for protecting networks, and detecting and reacting to current cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.

"We have supported these DISA/DoD programs for the past 12 years," said Larry Cox, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We look forward to continuing our work in this vital mission area."
