(San Diego and McLean, Va., December 11, 2008) -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced that it was awarded a task order by the Department of Defense (DOD) to support the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation Joint Test and Evaluation (JT&E) program. The task order has a 32-month period of performance and a total value of more than $10 million. Work will be performed primarily at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. The task order was competitively awarded under DOD's Joint Test and Evaluation Engineering Services multiple award task order contracts, awarded and administered by the U. S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center's Contracting Office.

The JT&E program finds ways for warfighters to do their jobs better with today's equipment, organization and doctrine. This objective is achieved after successful evaluation of new concepts, and addressing needs and issues that occur in joint military environments. Under the task order, SAIC will examine synchronization of civil information into the civil affairs operational process to support geographic and regional commanders and civilian stakeholders. SAIC will also conduct studies, analyze alternatives and make recommendations on organizational structures and business processes in support of the program.

"We look forward to supporting the JT&E program in the development of tactics, techniques and procedures that support our combat forces as they carry out the non-traditional operations required to effectively fight the Global War on Terror," said Charles Zang, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
