Farnborough on Top Form
The Farnborough International Airshow has confirmed its status as the leading business to business airshow. Last week $38 billion of new orders were announced at the show, which attracted 1,480 exhibitors and more than140, 000 trade visitors. The international importance of the show was emphasised by the participation of 90 military and civil delegations from 43 countries.Sally Howes, SBAC Director General said, "The Farnborough International Airshow has been a huge success. The numbers of visitors, exhibitors and amount of new business done confirm that this most special of airshows is on top form. The Farnborough International team has done a fantastic job, bringing a new sense of purpose and enthusiasm to Farnborough's traditional strengths."
In 2004, shortly after the last show, SBAC established a wholly owned subsidiary company, Farnborough International Limited (FIL), to organise the Farnborough International Airshow and examine the wider commercial opportunities offered by the Farnborough site. The new arrangements allowed the FIL team to focus on the needs of their customers and respond to them with greater purpose and imagination.
