Implant Sciences Receives Order from China for 20 Handheld Explosives Detection Systems(WAKEFIELD, Mass., April 12, 2006) -- Implant Sciences Corporation (AMEX: "IMX", "IMX.WS") a developer, manufacturer and marketer of products for national security, medicine and industry, today announced the receipt of a purchase order from Beijing Ritchie's Time Co., Ltd, the Company's distributor in China, to deliver 20 Quantum Sniffer handheld explosives detection units. These units are being ordered for use in China by security police, explosives ordnance disposal specialists, and other provincial law enforcement agencies. This order brings the total units ordered from our representative in China to 143 units. The Company shipped a total of 121 units to China between October 2005 and February 2006, which are currently being used by the China Railway Administration and various law enforcement agencies in China.
Dr. Anthony J. Armini, PhD., CEO of Implant Sciences, commented, "We continue to be pleased with the efforts of our distributor in China, which has resulted in this follow-on order of our explosives detection equipment. Our previously shipped units to China have been operating in the field since October 2005. We believe this order could be indicative of the acceptance of our new, innovative Quantum Sniffer technology, for what appears to be an important program to the Chinese law enforcement and security experts."

Dr. Armini further stated, "As I mentioned in our fiscal 2006 second quarter earnings conference call, orders in the explosives detection business tend to be "lumpy." However, we continue to be encouraged by our active sales and marketing efforts, as is evidenced by this new order from China. We are seeing increased interest for and awareness of our explosives detection technology and products by potential customers in local government and law enforcement agencies; commercial entities, such as banks; VIP protection and security agencies; and security consultants. We are making significant progress on our passenger portal prototype, which should be ready for testing in our first fiscal quarter of 2007. Similarly, a lighter and smaller version of our handheld explosives detection system is near completion and could be introduced for sale in our next quarter."
