Plasan Sasa Completes Delivery of Unique HMMWV Armor Suites to Portuguese Army

(ISRAEL, April 11, 2006) -- Plasan Sasa, a leading developer and manufacturer of combat proven ballistic protection solutions, has just completed delivery of HMMWV armor for Portuguese Forces on NATO Peacekeeping Missions.

Plasan's advanced Armor Protection Kit (APK) was chosen by the Portuguese Army for the high level of all-round protection it affords to both vehicle and crew against Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), mines and other threats. It complies with the Army's advanced technological demands and meets STANAG NATO standards.

Plasan's most cost-effective APK allows easy and swift assembly and disassembly by crews in the field promotes rapid readiness for changing mission specifications. Its fully modular design allows it to be easily transferred retrofit from one vehicle to another.
Plasan’s APK is an advanced, intelligent system engineered from composite materials to provide maximum protection at minimum weight; this fine-tuned engineering ensures that the integrity of both platform performance and ballistic protection are never compromised.

Plasan's battle-proven armor solutions are tailored to meet the multiple challenges of today's combat scenarios including traditional battlefields, peace-keeping missions, urban warfare and Low Intensity Conflicts (LIC).

Plasan Sasa has more than two decades of battlefield experience supplying comprehensive armor solutions for HMMWVs for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and other advanced military forces throughout the world; in fact, Plasan Sasa is one of only a handful of companies officially approved by HMMWV manufacturer AM General for armoring its vehicles. The company is actively involved in a number of HMMWV armor supply projects worldwide with particularly intensive and widespread activity in Europe.

The company was awarded just 6-months ago a contract for its M-PAV 2, a New Generation up-armored Multi-Purpose HMMWV armor, by another NATO member.

M-PAV 2 adds additional cargo space protection and greater mission flexibility compared to the successful low profile original missile-carrying M-PAV 1; approved by AMG and compliant with all requirements for maintaining HMMWV chassis flexibility, M-PAV 2 retains all aspects of the legendary HMMWV multi-terrain capabilities.
