Successful Firing of RBS15 by the Croatian Navy

Defence and security company Saab announces another successful customer live firing of the RBS15 surface-to-surface missile system. On 19 October the Croatian Navy fired an RBS15 missile from the RTOP-42 Dubrovnik fast attack craft during the military exercise HARPUN 16.

The military exercise HARPUN 16 is held in the waters of Dugi Otok and A1/2irje from 16 to 23 October, and is the main training event of the Croatian Navy this year and one of the main activities in the process of implementation of the Navy’s capability goals. On 19 October the Croatian Navy successfully fired one of their RBS15 missiles from the RTOP-42 Dubrovnik fast attack craft, as part of the exercise.

“Croatia have for a long time been an important customer for us and this firing is a strong proof of their expertise and knowledge and clearly demonstrates the reliability of the missile system”, says Michael Höglund, head of marketing and sales at business unit Missile systems within Saab business area Dynamics.

“The firing of the RBS15 demonstrated the Croatian Armed Forces’ capability to operate from all RBS15 launch platforms, which is a significant step forward in the Croatian Armed Forces’ capabilities“, says Lieutenant General Drago MatanoviA, Deputy Chief of the General Staff.

The HARPUN exercise is being conducted in order to increase the operational capabilities in planning and implementation of joint naval operations in a complex maritime environment, with the focus on the implementation of firing an anti-ship missile and maritime assault.
