Textron Systems Electronic Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) business, celebrates a continued collaboration with Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Navy on the Electronic Consolidated Automated Support System (eCASS) program. The eCASS program supports the preparedness of critical aircraft systems including weapons, avionics and navigation, which are utilized to provide automated testing abilities at sea and ashore. The endurance of the eCASS maximizes long-term supportability that allows interoperability between external systems. To close 2015, Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger and PMA-260 Aviation Support Equipment Program Manager Captain Brian Jacobs spoke at Textron Systems and Lockheed Martin’s ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) I and LRIP II along with the opening of Electronic Systems’ eCASS automated test equipment and production facility, which houses two functional eCASS stations at Textron Systems in Hunt Valley, Md.
After receiving a contract from the U.S. Navy in 2015, Lockheed Martin has been producing eCASS systems in Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) III. These systems include 31 Textron Systems Electronic Systems Radio Frequency Mission Equipment Kits (RF MEKs), which are expected to be delivered by July 2016. The eCASS station is made up of four primary equipment racks, including Textron Systems Electronic Systems’ RF MEK. The RF MEK is vital in ensuring the mission readiness of naval aircraft and is slated to be installed on the U.S. Navy Carrier Fleet and shore-based aviation maintenance activities.
