Meggitt Training Systems Secures $25 M in Orders to Date with 3rd Delivery Order from USMC
Meggitt Training Systems recently received a $5.8 million third delivery order from the US Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS) to develop and deliver the Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainers (ISMT) system for the US Marine Corps. This equates to $25 million of awards to date under the $32.7 million IDIQ contract.
“The continued success of the ISMT program is a testament to the invaluable partnership established between Meggitt and the US Marine Corps,” said Ronald Vadas, president, Meggitt Training Systems. “Our partnership and commitment is a further testament of the value we offer defense forces in the US and around the world.”
The Global Military Simulation and Virtual Training Market 2016-2026
The ISMT system provides realistic, state-of-the-art virtual small arms training for marksmanship, collective and judgmental scenarios. The latest award will provide another 166 ISMT small arms training systems and additional authoring stations.
“The ISMT system is designed to be extremely user-friendly,” said Kathleen Wilson, ISMT program manager with Meggitt Training Systems. “We’ve incorporated automatic coaching features, providing immediate feedback to the instructor on the Marine’s performance. This provides coaching opportunities in real-time to correct marksmanship skills, and allows for extra training as necessary. It readily adapts to the needs of the specific people utilizing the system.”
The ISMT program provides a five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract that includes system and weapon simulator development, as well as the installation and support of more than 670 systems at US Marine Corps facilities both domestically and worldwide. The ISMT systems meet the US Marine Corps current training requirements, but have been designed to incorporate Meggitt’s flexible system architecture to ensure the systems can meet future growth and evolving training conditions.
