Rockwell Collins Brings Enhanced Reality to EgyptAir's FFSs With New Integrated Visual System

Rockwell Collins has been selected by EgyptAir to provide a comprehensive visual system upgrade for the airline’s Boeing 777, Airbus A320 and Airbus A330 full flight simulators. The new systems will be in place by mid-2016.

The enhanced integrated visual systems will feature Rockwell Collins’ EP-8000 image generator with VS2200 projectors.

“EgyptAir is extending the operational life of its existing simulators, while significantly enhancing the training experience for its customers,” said LeAnn Ridgeway, vice president and general manager, Simulation and Training for Rockwell Collins. “This is also an important strategic agreement for Rockwell Collins, as we look to further strengthen our relationship with EgyptAir while bringing highly realistic and efficient simulation and training solutions to the region.”

Rockwell Collins’ integrated visual system is available for both commercial and military training platforms and features the following to enhance flight training programs:

  • Market-leading image generation systems that offer unmatched performance that exceeds all regulatory requirements
  • Projector technology that provides superior image quality, especially for nighttime and low-visibility representations needed to meet training requirements
  • WholeEarth environment with high-resolution, geo-typical imagery with an expansive library of certified airport models to create high-fidelity realism.

The open, scalable architecture of Rockwell Collins’ integrated visual system saves operators cost by minimizing hardware replacement over the life of the system.
