“We are happy to have been participating in Beijing Airshow since its early days and we are fully confident in the Chinese market, which is set to be the largest civil aviation market in the world,” said Eric Chen, President and CEO of Airbus China. “We are committed to the long term development of the Chinese aviation industry by providing Chinese airlines with the world’s top performing aircraft and the industry’s top level of services and support. We also have been carrying out all-round cooperation with China in various fields including aeronautic manufacturing, air traffic management as well as research and technology”, he added.

Airbus has a significant industrial presence in China with the A320 Final Assembly Line in Tianjin, the Airbus (Beijing) Engineering Centre and the Composite Manufacturing Centre in Harbin. In July Airbus also announced a framework agreement with Chinese partners of Tianjin Free Trade Zone and AVIC on establishing an A330 Completion and Deliver Centre in Tianjin.

Along with the expansion of the industrial presence, the in-service fleet of Airbus aircraft in China has been continuously growing. By the end of August, there were around 1,200 Airbus aircraft in operation in mainland China, among which more than 160 are A330 Family aircraft, making the A330 the most popular wide-body aircraft in operation in China. Today, over 1,000 A320 Family aircraft are operated by Chinese airlines.
