NGC Appoints Skip Magness VP, Operations, Cyber Division

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced it has appointed Skip Magness, vice president, operations, for its cyber division within the company's Information Systems sector, effective immediately.

Magness will report to Shawn Purvis, vice president and general manager, cyber division, and will have executive responsibility for the coordination, execution and optimization of internal operations and resources to fulfill the division's long-term and annual operating plan commitments. This includes workforce and resource planning, driving affordability initiatives and managing the day-to-day business structure of the organization. In this role, he will have direct oversight of the execution of division's strategy, new business pursuits and the expansion of the division's core capabilities and collaboration initiatives.

"Skip brings to this role an incredible amount of program and operations experience," said Purvis. "He is a proven business leader and we will look to his expertise to optimize our operations, utilizing his breadth of experience across our different mission areas and customer domains." 

Most recently, Magness was the director of network defense and intelligence operations for the cyber division, where he was responsible for the delivery of mission-critical cyber solutions to customers in the federal government, including the Department of Homeland Security, as well as several customers in the intelligence community.

Magness joined Northrop Grumman in 1990 and has extensive experience in program management, strategic development and planning, business development, operations and systems engineering. Before making his transition to industry, Magness' career included several years in the research and engineering organization of the National Security Agency (NSA) as a systems engineer developing various intelligence systems. He began his career in the NSA's cooperative education program.

He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland. He is also a senior fellow at the Center for Cyber and Homeland Security (CCHS) at the George Washington University.
