FADEC International to continue more than 10 years’ work with Shandong Airlines, providing FADEC repairs for the next five years.
FADEC International, a joint venture between BAE Systems and Sagem (Safran Group), has signed a long term agreement to provide repair services for the Full Authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC) on Shandong Airlines Co.’s 737 fleet.
“This agreement ensures the continuation of the work we have performed with Shandong Airlines for more than a decade — an exceptional relationship we are delighted to continue,” said Mark Jarmus, product support manager at FADEC International. “Our team’s mission is to deliver an unequalled customer experience, and the validation of that performance is achieved when a leading airline such as Shandong signs on to work with us again.”
The FADEC solution is a redundant computer system that reduces pilot workload and increases efficiencies by electronically monitoring and adjusting aircraft engines for proper and smooth operation. The FADEC controls all aspects of engine performance, such as fuel flow, variable engine geometries, and overspeed protection, as well as interfacing with the engine thrust reverser.
Shandong Airlines is a China-based carrier that operates mainly domestic routes from Jinan, Qingdao, and Yantai to major cities in China. The service and support for Shandong’s fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft will be performed at BAE Systems’ Ft. Wayne, Indiana site and Sagem’s facility in France.
FADEC International, through BAE Systems and Sagem (Safran group), develops, manufactures, and supports high-reliability aircraft electronics for harsh engine environments. The company serves airlines and aircraft maintenance and repair providers with a full range of aftermarket capabilities. Leveraging extensive knowledge of severe engine environments, FADEC design attributes, and repair history, FADEC International has developed a robust process that helps customers decrease costs, simplify maintenance, and enhance their services.
FADEC International is a 50-50 joint venture between a subsidiary of BAE Systems Controls Inc. and Sagem (Safran group) that focuses the two companies’ capabilities to design, produce, and support Full-Authority Digital Engine Controls for commercial aircraft engines. For more than 25 years, FADEC International and its member companies have served airlines and aircraft maintenance and repair providers with a full range of design and aftermarket capabilities.
