ST Aerospace to Provide RSAF with Training Helicopters Worth About $120M
SINGAPORE --- Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace), the aerospace arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering), today announced that it has clinched a contract to provide training helicopters for the Singapore Ministry of Defence.Under this contract, worth about $120m, ST Aerospace will provide the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) a fleet of five EC120 Colibri helicopters with full technical and logistic support for the fleet over a period of 20 years.

Under the programme, ST Aerospace will own and maintain the helicopter, while pilot training would be performed by the RSAF. Eurocopter Southeast Asia (ESEA), which collaborated with ST Aerospace on this project, will supply the helicopters as well as the simulators.
This contract is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.

This rotary wing contract was a tender called by the Singapore Ministry of Defence that required bidders to offer innovative and cost effective solutions under its Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programme. Prior to this rotary wing contract, ST Aerospace began in 2003 to provide the RSAF similar support for its Transport Wing course. Under the Transport Wing programme, ST Aerospace also provides training, using the King Air C-90 Beechcraft configured to meet the RSAF’s special training requirements, for RSAF's trainee pilots until they become full-fledged transport pilots.
