Developed and manufactured by Lockheed Martin, VOSS provides on-the-move, 360-degree surveillance and explosive hazard detection capability for route clearance and reconnaissance missions. VOSS includes high resolution color, night vision and thermal sensors in a stabilized 15-inch turret. The mast-mounted system has been used in combat with a 97 percent operational readiness rate in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“For more than eight years, Lockheed Martin has supported the urgent operational needs of the U.S. Army with VOSS’ mission critical surveillance capabilities,” said Dana Rocca, turreted systems director at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “It has been through close partnership with the U.S. Army that we were able to achieve this important milestone and keep vital technology in the hands of the warfighter.”
Since 2006, more than 1,100 VOSS systems have been deployed with the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and NATO Coalition forces.
