Astrophysics Awarded Five Year, $23.1 M Contract From the DHS
- Contract to Provide Astrophysics X-Ray Systems to United States Customs & Border Protection Agency
Astrophysics Inc ., a leader in conventional and air cargo security X-ray inspection systems, today announced that the company has been awarded a five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract from the Department of Homeland Security, United States Customs & Border Protection (CBP) agency.
CBP can use this contract, with a ceiling of $23.1 million, to provide Astrophysics' equipment around the world. The contract allows purchasing of small, medium and large X-ray systems, their associated peripherals, training, and warranties in support of CBP's Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) program.

In addition to industry standard 3 color imaging, Astrophysics' systems feature a unique 6 color view that helps operators more easily distinguish threat items from non-threat items based on atomic weight and density.
The following systems will be provided to CBP:
- The XIS-6545 for small parcel inspection
- The XIS-1080 for medium parcel inspection
- The XIS 100XDV for large parcel inspection
