VivaAerobus, Mexico's ultra-low cost carrier, has selected Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engines to power its order of 40 Airbus A320neo aircraft, plus 40 option. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). VivaAerobus also selected the IAE International Aero Engines AG V2500 engine to power its order for 12 A320ceo aircraft.
"With the objectives of reducing costs, improving reliability, punctuality and overall passenger experience, VivaAerobus announced last October its purchase agreement for 52 Airbus A320s, the largest order ever made in Latin America to Airbus. To enhance these objectives, we've selected Pratt & Whitney and IAE to power our new fleet," said Juan Carlos Zuazua, chief executive officer, VivaAerobus. The PurePower engine deal includes a 20-year PureSolution(SM) maintenance service agreement. The V2500 engine deal includes a 12-year V-Services(SM) maintenance service agreement.
