Smiths Detection today announces a multi-million dollar order from Leidos, the prime contractor of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)’s Integrated Logistics Support contract, for supplies, parts and services to be provided at some 400 airports across the U.S.
Under the four-year agreement with Leidos, Smiths Detection will provide fully trained field support plus supplies and parts for its X-ray, advanced X-ray and explosives trace detection technology. The order will help ensure airport checkpoint screening remains continuously operational.
Terry Gibson, President, Smiths Detection, Inc., said, “We are committed to helping our customers protect travelers across the U.S. and around the world. This contract underlines how we deliver on that commitment to long-term value by ensuring our technology meets the operational needs of our customers.”
New field staff working on this contract will attend technical training sessions at Smiths Detection’s Training & Service Center in Edgewood, Maryland. The center is dedicated to training and service support for customers throughout North, Central and South America on the full range of Smiths Detection’s CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear and explosives) detection and X-ray technologies.
