Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics retrofit now certified for Hawker 800
Rockwell Collins announced that its Pro Line 21™ Integrated Display System (IDS) retrofit solution for Pro Line II-equipped Hawker 800 business jets has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The retrofit brings Hawker 800 owners modern flight deck capabilities with the same displays found on Hawker 900XP and 850XP aircraft.
The Pro Line 21 IDS retrofit replaces the legacy Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays in Hawker 800 aircraft with four large, configurable 10 x 8-inch liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that are capable of displaying high-resolution electronic charts, graphical weather, enhanced navigation maps, enhanced vision and a soon-to-be-released synthetic vision option.

"Updating legacy flight decks with Pro Line 21 IDS enables a number of key advantages, including enhanced situational awareness, improved reliability and reduced maintenance cost," said Craig Olson, vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins.
Operators that upgrade to Pro Line 21 IDS join a large and growing family of more than 4,500 aircraft that are positioned to display future mandates, such as ADS-B Out and TCAS II Change 7.1.
Additional benefits that are gained when retrofitting Hawker 800 aircraft with Pro Line 21 IDS include:
- Reduced maintenance costs associated with more reliable LCD displays compared to the rising cost of repairs to CRT displays nearing obsolescence.
- Improved reliability of the attitude heading system—the package includes Rockwell Collins' AHS-3000A Attitude Heading System, which is more than four times as reliable as the existing AHC-85 Attitude Heading Computer.
- Increased aircraft value and marketability.
Olson added that major aircraft maintenance checks are an ideal time to retrofit Pro Line 21 IDS, which provides operators with significant labor expense savings and eliminates several days of aircraft downtime.
