(LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24, 2005) -- Universal Detection Technology (OTCBB:UDTT) (FWB:PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Security Solutions International (SSI), a security services company, to distribute UDTT's anthrax and other bacterial spore monitoring system, BSM-2000, in Central and South America.
Under the agreement, SSI, a Miami-based counterterrorism training firm specializing in providing critical emergency preparedness support, will use its efforts to promote the marketing and distribution of the BSM-2000 in the Brazil, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
The agreement is designed to increase UDTT's marketing reach and product sales potential in international markets.
"We hope that BSM-2000 will attract great interest as a welcome security solution for public safety preparedness against increasing bioterrorism threats," said Jacques Tizabi, CEO of Los Angeles-based Universal Detection Technology. "Our goal is to generate new distribution channels domestically and internationally for BSM-2000 through the expansion of marketing and support networks. Our partnership with SSI is a clear step in that direction, which we expect will help foster our Company exposure and visibility in Latin America. While Latin American distribution is not within SSI's core business focus, we hope that its expertise in counter-terrorism and security training, and its existing relationships in Latin America will offer opportunities to extend our visibility to a number of neighbors to our South," he said.
Henry Morgenstern, SSI's president, said: "We believe that our relationships in Central and South America will provide us the opportunity to introduce UDT's BSM-2000 anthrax detector to a market outside the USA. The war on terror is a global problem and all countries realize that they are potential targets. We believe that the UDT technology will provide countries with safety in the face of this threat."
UDTT is focused on developing, distributing and deploying advanced early-warning monitoring and detection systems with cost and functional advantages over competing technologies available. The Company's product, the BSM-2000, is based on a spore detection technology developed by NASA and licensed exclusively by UDTT.
